Files and folders
Where LoopCode keeps your settings, conversations, memory, skills and logs — on your computer and in your project — and what is safe to commit.
In your home folder
Everything lives under ~/.loopcode (%USERPROFILE%\.loopcode on Windows), or LOOPCODE_HOME when set.
| Path | Holds |
|---|---|
settings.json | Your settings, for every project |
mcp.json | Your MCP servers, for every project |
LOOPCODE.md | Your standing instructions, for every project |
memory.md | What you asked LoopCode to remember, everywhere |
skills/ | Your skills |
agents/ | Your custom subagents |
plugins/ | Plugins installed from LoopCode |
learned/ | Notes LoopCode learned that apply across projects |
projects/<project>/learned/ | Notes it learned about one project |
cli/ | The CLI's conversations and sign-in (LOOPCODE_STATE or --state to move it) |
vscode/ | The VS Code extension's conversations |
app/<version>/ | The installed CLI |

The desktop app keeps its conversations in its application-data folder, and opens in ~/LoopCode the first time, before you choose a project.
